19th Century Orkney Chair Circa 1890

Magnificent early twentieth century Scottish Islands Orkney wingback chair circa 1900s, the solid oak frame with high curved woven straw wingback above open arms and drop-in woven straw seat raised on square tapering legs, the high back of these chairs were designed to protect the sitter from the harsh winds of the North Sea, Orkney (old Norse: Orkneyjar), also known as the Orkney Islands, is an archipelago in the Northern Isles of Scotland, situated off the north coast of the island of Great Britain and comprises of over 70 islands and skerries, of which 20 are permanently inhabited. the chair with a charming rustic feel would sit well in most design settings, reserve now.

Condition: Good antique condition with minor age related wear, the frame and straw in excellent condition with no damage, no odours or smells.
