A stunning 19th Century French Renaissance Oak Centre or Library Table Circa 1850, the rectangular top with guarding lions' heads to each corner with brass drop hoops, raised on two platform supports decorated with carved boarders and a robust stretcher, dolphins on each of the four feet with a heavily carved decoration, beautiful rich dark oak extensively and expertly carved with a superb deep rich colour with a beautifully patina, the top with carved moulded edge detail, four lion heads guarding each corner with relief foliate detail, the twin classical columns with four bulbous vases rising to support the tabletop, canted frieze decorated with relief carved classical motifs, the pierced carved lion masks to each corner over descending finials, a concealed central frieze drawer with turned acorn drawer pull, a true statement piece that will grace and be the focal point of any room.
