The timeless classic 'Time Life' Lobby Chair designed by Charles & Ray Eames in 1960 and manufactured by Herman Miller USA, this iconic chair was designed for the grand reception areas of New York’s Time Life building and dates to 1970 it combines all of the characteristics of the other iconic designs which Charles & Ray Eames developed around the same period. The Eames’s designed the executive chair in 1960 to grace the lobbies that they had designed for the Time-Life building in New York City earning the moniker ‘Time-Life Lobby Chair’. The Time Life Chair was designed and developed to meet the need for a comfortable chair that was smaller than the iconic 670 lounge chair. This particular chair features Brown Bark, 8T21 Crossing upholstery an a aluminium frame with padded armrests with a four star base terminating raised on casters. The Lobby chair hasn't budged from its role as the pinnacle of professional style and swagger as proven by its constant appearances in the ‘Mad Men’ series. The Lobby chair though originally conceived for a reception area or office was also sold for residential installations and became a huge hit in the 1970s with all of the big interior designers of the time. This chair features a smooth swivel action with three cushions each tufted by two buttons, created specifically for comfort and support, stamped to the base with a black Herman Miller label indicating a production period of 1970-1984.

Condition: The chair is offered in excellent condition with very little wear to the fabric, age related marks and wear as to be expected, overall the chair has no tears or rips, the swivel action is smooth and easy, the casters roll smoothly, a wonderful early example of one of Eames’s most iconic designs.
