José Zanine Caldas ‘Namoradeira’ Tête-à-Tête Rocker Brazil circa 1980
José Zanine Caldas ‘Namoradeira’ Tête-à-Tête Rocker Brazil circa 1980
Magnificent Brazilian design at its very best, José Zanine Caldas ‘Namoradeira’ Tête-à-Tête Rocker Brazil circa 1980, the ‘Namoradeira’ (sweethearts) literally means a "girl who dates” or it can be better translated from Portuguese as "sweetheart" the tete-a-tete conversation seat is skilfully sculpted from salvaged Pequi wood an indigenous fruit tree of Brazil, the naturalistic qualities of the heavily figured wood are delicately balanced by the hand-forged form, the seat has a calming gentle rocking motion allowing two people to sit opposing each other, a wonderful addition to any serious chair collection, reserve now.
Provenance: Private collection Brazil
Please note: The chair is made from solid wood and will require at least 4 people to move into place.
