Stunning 19th century French Napoleon III brass mounted mahogany plum pudding desk and matching desk chair of Director / Empire style late 19th century circa 1890
The desk with gilt tooled green leather top banded in plum pudding mahogany above nine drawers flanked by leather-lined slides, the reverse partly inverted break-fronted and panelled like the sides all raised on a plinth base, the mahogany empire style chair with original leather seat also dates to late 19th century France.
Provenance: This desk sold at Christie's Interiors - Style & Spirit Auction in London, South Kensington on the 17 February 2015 with a hammer price of £7,312.50
Condition report: The desk is offered in excellent condition with minor age related wear, various marks, scuffs and knocks as to be expected, all drawers open and close smoothly, the desk comes with 3 working keys, The chairs is in good solid condition but the leather is worn and cracked through age, all joints are solid with no weakness or repairs.
