Italian Baroque Style Marble Fireplace with Nude Maidens Italy Circa 1920
Italian Baroque Style Marble Fireplace with Nude Maidens Italy Circa 1920
This beautiful fireplace was made in the first half of the 20th century in the finest Chiampo Paglierino Marble from Italy circa 1920, The fireplace's entablature is typical of the Italian Baroque period, this stunning and ornate fireplace is fit for any room of elegance and enchantment, the exquisite fine marble with pink tones shows off every charming embellishment for an Italian style of old world charm and elegance, the serpentine shaped mantle is underlined by a scalloped moulding adorned at its centre with a feathered and floral shield with bouquets of flowers and to the corners composed of acanthus leaves and roses, flanking the entablature bears a pair of carved figures of classical Maidens with beautiful faces partially robed from the waist down and with arms risen in a gracious way above their heads supporting the mantle, they rest on a pedestal adorned with roses. The decadent use of nude figurines in this statuary would suggest that this very ornate piece is of Italian manufacture for the English market, circa 1920, reserve now
